Wireless systems present unique challenges to ensure connectivity over the air, especially when users are semi-mobile. Airgain’s patented smart antenna technology and products greatly expand the coverage of digital wireless communication networks. Our solutions provide significant improvements in performance and cost savings in several Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g) application areas, including systems for the home and enterprise WLAN, hot spot and last mile wireless access markets.

Our smart antenna technology is based on multi-element antenna principles developed by the military aerospace industry. The technology has been well known for decades. It has been used in radar systems and in expensive, high-end communications equipment. Our innovation is to harness the technology for use in digital wireless communication systems.

Our research and development effort began in 2000.  In successive designs, we have reduced the size of our smart antenna hardware and lowered its cost (in terms of the bill of materials).  As a result, we now have products that can fit into existing WLAN device form factors, replace the standard dipole antennas at little or no incremental manufacturing cost to the OEM, while providing the performance benefits of smart antennas.
