Airgain Announces First Customer for New
A2475 Smart Antenna
Carlsbad,
CA, January 5, 2006 – Airgain, Inc.,
a developer of high-performance smart
antenna solutions for the WLAN market,
today announced the first customer for
its patented A2475 Smart Antenna
solution for wireless access points,
routers and gateway devices. AL Tech, an
original equipment manufacturer based in
Korea, will incorporate the A2475 smart
antenna into its AnyGate RG-4000A Smart
AP wireless router product beginning in
early 2006.
The A2475 is
an embedded smart antenna solution that
utilizes patented beam forming
technology to deliver up to 300 percent
greater signal strength and receive
sensitivity than conventional antenna
solutions. It features 15 individual
antenna beams and provides superior
horizontal and vertical coverage. When
integrated into wireless access point
and router products, the A2475 provides
faster throughput, reduced dead spots,
and increased wireless range compared to
traditional Wireless-G networks.
“Our flexible and innovative approach to
antenna design has enabled us to reach
this very important milestone in our
company’s growth, with a product that
meets the performance, quality, and cost
structure requirements of the wireless
home and office,” said Pertti Visuri,
chief executive officer of Airgain. “We
are extremely pleased to partner with AL
Tech in their efforts to deliver the
industry’s first high performance
wireless multimedia router solution
designed for the mass market.”
With the
introduction of the new Airgain-based
802.11g router product, AL Tech
customers will now be able to benefit
from industry-leading wireless
performance. The RG-4000A AP router will
be launched commercially in Korea and
features actual user throughput speeds
of up to 40 mbps. The need for maximum
throughput made the Airgain A2475 Smart
Antenna the antenna choice for AL Tech.
"Airgain was
able to develop and deliver a superior
product that performed better in high
multipath and multi-story facilities
than anything we have tried to date,"
said J.Y. Kim, president of AL Tech.
"The combination of our extensive
background in wireless networking and
Airgain’s innovative smart antenna
technology has enabled us to deliver the
perfect solution to handle multimedia in
the wireless home network."
