POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Finance, the Junior Accountant, will be responsible for providing accurate, timely and compliant financial results within the published time table. This role is required to assist with the collection of financial data accurately and efficiently in order to help prepare month end account reconciliations primarily for Accounts Payable. This incumbent will perform a range of routine accounting activities such as maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  1. Prepares and enters monthly general ledger journal entries and accruals to meet monthly deadlines;
  2. Participate in month end closing activities and work with other Accountants to complete all related tasks assigned within the required timeline and completes simple and complex calculations and assists with trial balances;
  3. Reconciles and analyzes general ledger accounts;
  4. Reconcile, track, and prepare any monthly journal entry for prepaid expenses;
  5. Assists with accounts payable functions including but not limited to verifying invoices, approvals, uploading invoices, check requests, and entering data into accounts payable system;
  6. Understands financial statements including income statement, balance sheet and cash flow;
  7. Assist with requests by external auditors as needed;
  8. Responsible for ensuring the accounts are compliant with US GAAP and SOX procedures and documentation;
  9. Prepare analysis of accounts as requested;
  10. Support CFO and Director of Finance with any ad hoc requests;
  11. Perform other duties as assigned;
  12. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature and workshops;

 

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

Experience:

  • Two to three years of relevant work experience in Accounting or Finance preferred,  recent graduates be may considered
  • Strong team player, willing to contribute ideas and take on new challenges
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize time, and meet required deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance;

 

Certifications:

Must have a valid driver’s license
