Airgain, AT&T Collaborate on Trials for FirstNet HPUE

Airgain recently announced that the company’s AirgainConnect AC-HPUE antenna-modem has earned FirstNet Ready status and is being used by FirstNet contractor AT&T during field trials of high-power user equipment (HPUE) in preparation for the launch of HPUE service slated for early next year.
With modems and antenna-modems from Assured Wireless Corporation and Airgain, FirstNet MegaRange can be used either standalone to directly connect with devices like laptops, tablets, and hotspots, or in connection with mobile and fixed modems and routers from Digi, Sierra Wireless, and Cradlepoint.

MegaRange currently is available only to FirstNet users that use the Assured Wireless AW12 HPUE modem or the AirgainConnect AC-HPUE antenna-modem that integrates the Assured Wireless chip into an efficient antenna form factor. But other equipment providers could leverage MegaRange in the future, Agnew said.
Today, two companies are shipping MegaRange™ products that have been fully approved by FirstNet (Built with AT&T). The first is Assured Wireless, which has been developing its high-power products for the past four or five years. The second is Airgain with its AirgainConnect vehicular antenna solution. The AirgainConnect system builds on an Assured Wireless Module that is built directly into the antenna.
